Can your team help build safer and more resilient cities? Compete for a €75,000 prize fund

On 24–25 September 2026, Tallinn will host an international hackathon at the Energia Avastuskeskus as part of Estonian Defence Week.

City Resilience Hack will bring together startups, developers, students, designers, business experts, defence and security professionals, urban innovation teams and technology specialists from across Europe.

The hackathon is organised by Tallinn with the partner cities of Valencia, Helsinki, Lviv and Dnipro. Tehnopol works as the project manager responsible for the delivery of the event.

Over two intensive days, participants will work on real urban resilience challenges presented by the partner cities. The focus is on practical and scalable solutions that help cities make better use of data, improve situational awareness, strengthen communication with communities, support essential services and develop more future-ready urban environments.

City Resilience Hack is not only an idea competition. It is a working environment where teams can develop and validate their concepts, receive feedback from city representatives, mentors and experts, and explore how their solutions could be tested further in real urban settings.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete for a 75,000 euro prize fund, access future pilot opportunities and receive feedback from an international jury. Tehnopol will also offer an additional prize to one outstanding team: the opportunity to join Tehnopol’s accelerator programme and receive support in developing the solution further.

A key focus of the hackathon is making sure that the most promising ideas can continue beyond the event itself through cooperation with cities, experts and international partners.
