Dr. Katrin Franke

Katrin Franke, PhD, is a Principal Engineer at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, specializing in Product Cybersecurity, cyber-physical assurance, adversarial test engineering, and AI assurance.

She leads and contributes to European and national R&D activities addressing the resilience and assurance of complex defense systems. Her work combines cyber-physical test and evaluation, hardware-in-the-loop environments, hardware and software security, and AI-enabled capabilities, translating emerging threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements into practical engineering capabilities. Her current focus is on developing the engineering methods, technologies and evidence required to keep complex systems mission-capable under cyber-contested conditions.

Before joining Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, she was Professor of Computer Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Her academic work spans artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital and computational forensics, and intelligent analysis of complex data. She received her PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Groningen.

She is a recipient of the IAPR/ICDAR Young Investigator Award for her contributions to computational forensics.
